Hyderabad: A woman plotted her the murder of her father, a retired Indian Railways employee, by searching on the Internet and her brother executed the murder.
The siblings Praful, 29, and Kishan, 40, mixed powder of the poisonous datura fruit — the prickly fruit usually seen during Ganesh Chaturthi — in some mutton curry served to railway pensioner, Suthar Maruti Kishan. When he died, they chopped his body. Their mother Gaya, 58, helped chop the body parts.
Malkajgiri police arrested the trio on Thursday. The forensic report is awaited, and police made the arrests on their confessions.
A police officer said that the family tested if the datura powder was effective, by feeding Maruti in small doses. When Maruthi took ill on consuming it, they mixed it in a large quantity in his food and killed him.
Maruti, a goods loco pilot, had taken voluntary retirement in 2000 and built a house in RTC Colony, Malkajgiri, where the family stayed.
The police said that Maruti was receiving `30,000 as pension. He used to chide his children for being unemployed and dependent on him.
“In order to get their hands on the pension, Kishan, Praful and Gaya decided to kill Maruti. Praful, a BSc (Chemistry) graduate, searched on the internet for easy ways to kill her father and told her brother that datura fruit powder was a powerful poison.
“On the night of August 15, they cooked his favourite mutton curry and mixed the datura powder in it. Maruti was drunk, ate the food and died in his sleep. They took the body to the pooja room where Kishan chopped the body into pieces using two knives, while his mother and sister helped in packing the body parts in buckets. They wanted to dispose of the parts and lodge a complaint that Maruti was missing, but their plan failed when neighbours complained to the police after being alerted by the foul smell.
The police said that based on the confession of the accused persons, they have been placed under the arrest.
