Bengaluru: A fake astrologer who was allegedly brainwashing women and pursuing them to fall in love with him after convincing them that he was their husband in their previous births got beaten up on Wednesday when he was caught by the members of a women's group.
The astrologer, who has been identified as Venkat Krishnacharya (28) and a resident of Srinivasnagar, was trashed by women and later handed over to the Hanumanthnagar police.
According to sources, the astrologer was brainwashing a woman at a house where he was called for a puja. Venkat, who visited their home frequently allegedly brainswashed a woman, an employee with a private firm, and pursuaded her to love him after convincing her that he was her husband in her previous birth.
The astrologer allegedly took a loan in her name and threatened to harm her if she told about it to anyone.
On Wednesday, the parents of the woman narrated the ordeal to a women group member who went to the astrologer's house and trashed him before handing him over to the police.
The police have registered a case and are investigating.
