Many celebrate rain-induced holidays with favorite pastimes

HYDERABAD: The rain that has been lashing the city for the past five days have come as a good augury for myriad citizens, who feel that the weather is perfect to enjoy the monsoon.

Many, including politicians, took to twitter to share how they were enjoying the weather by taking to their favourite activity, complementing the cold and green surroundings, like cooking, driving, music, reading and the likes.

BJP leader N. Ramchander Rao took to twitter to post videos and pictures of him making mirchi bhajji with a caption “Enjoying the process of making mirchi bajji — a delicious and satisfying treat! (sic)”

Uday Krishna, a nature lover and founder of Vata Foundation, posted a photo of him holding a hot cup of coffee with rain in the background saying “#Mood for the day #Rains (sic)”.

Another twitter user Venkat Madala posted a playlist of Kishore Kumar’s songs that he was listening to while enjoying the rains: Rain, Weather and Kishore Kumar #rainyhyderabad (sic)”.

Prama Roy, a PR professional, said, “I am a Bengali, so all our enjoyment starts with food. My personal preference is having all those Bengali delicacies that are perfect for rains like moong dal khichdi and hilsa fish. I have been cooking such delicacies to add to my enjoyment”.

Abhimanyu Dasgupta, who works as a curriculum coordinator in Aga Khan Academy, said that the campus where he stays was a verdant green after the showers.

“It is delightful to savour the natural beauty of the monsoon while watching rains from the balcony, walking my dogs with their raincoats on and enjoying the cool weather, which all brought a welcome break in my routine. At the same time, my heart goes out to all those people who have to brave floods and woes caused by the incessant rains,” he said.

Jyoti Kishore, an IT professional in an MNC, said that rains present the perfect occasion to enjoy long drives with her husband to enjoy ‘me time’ with nature-photography.

The two days holiday for schools and offices have given time to families to catch up and spend time together.

S.N. Jyoti said that as she also had a holiday, she could spend quality time with her school-going children, and husband, who works from home.
