CBI clean chit to Salim Raj in Kadakampally land scam

The CBI took over the probe into the scam as per a high court directive.

Thiruvananthapuram: The CBI on Thursday filed one more case in connection the Kadakampally land scam. Police official Salim Raj, who was a gunman of Oommen Chandy when he was the chief minister, was not arraigned in this case, even as he was earlier charge-sheeted in a case registered in this connection. Sources said the fresh charge-sheet was filed against five persons including former deputy tahsildar Vidyodaya Kumar on charges of manipulations in ‘tandaper register’ (village records) of the 44.5-acre land.

The probe found that page number 10,156 of the tandaper register was found torn and in was replaced with a new register. It was also found that two title deeds were issued on a same piece of land measuring about one and a half acres.

The others charge-sheeted in the case are Suhra Beevi, Rukiya Beevi, A. Nizar and Mohammed Kasim. The CBI took over the probe into the scam as per a high court directive. About 27 persons were arraigned in the first-information-report and separate charge-sheets were being filed on various offences in the case.
