Cool climate takes its toll on participants

The mono act competitions too were affected by climate.

Adimali: The cool clime of Munnar and Adimali was not congenial for many participants. Some of them, with their resolve, did try to overcome the cough and cold in events that were sound based. Revathi of Cherpulasseri Sabari School was one such participant who won the applause of the audience though after the event she said that her sound changed in the effect of the climate.

The mono act competitions too were affected by climate. Triprayar Lemer Public School student Dilshana Dilshad came from hospital bed to present the theme Edassery's Poothappattu connecting it with child abuse. And she won the hearts of the audience with her sterling performance.

Two students stole the show at the CBSE youth festival venue - announcers Punnoose Vincent and Soosanna Johnson of Viswadeepthi CMI Public School, Adimali, who were present at the venue from morning 7:30 till the events are over for four days.

They would start the day by briefing the visitors and participants about the arrangements made at various venues. Then they would announce the programmes for the day and give directions to participants how to proceed and the rules they should obey. They also announced about the unclaimed articles. For students, parents and teachers, the two Plus Two students were the one-stop-shop to clarify doubts.

Some of the parents of students who came out in flying colours were a tad disappointed over the uncertainty prevailing over the conduct of the national CBSE youth festival. "The former Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani had promised it. But we are yet to hear from the new HRD minister Prakash Javadekar. A national recognition and grace marks in the final exams would really boost the morale of the students," said Sreekantha Balan, a teacher from Thiruvananthapuram.

However, one parent said that grace marks would deteriorate the situation like in the state syllabus youth festival. "For the first time, this state CBSE youth festival witnessed ugly scenes over judgment. So keeping grace marks away would be a healthy option," said Vincent Varghese, a parent from Thrissur.
