Ramayana online quiz contest to begin today: Jeeyar Swamy

Rs 9 lakh at stake in prize-money

HYDERABAD: Chinna Jeeyar Swamy on Wednesday contended that India was known as Bharath from centuries before and there was nothing new or unusual about it.

Speaking to reporters at Muchintala ashram, the Swamy announced the schedule for the online Sri Ramayana quiz contest, which will start on Thursday, and culminate in a physical finale in February. The multiple-answer quiz, in which Rs 9 lakh is up for grabs, will be based on Valmiki Ramayana and has been divided into three different age-group categories.

He said “Ramayana has been written by many authors, but the one penned by Valmaki stands as the most original one. Contestants who wish to have Valmiki Ramayana can get it from the quiz portal, which is in Telugu, Hindi and English.”

Meanwhile, he said that as part of ‘Samatha Khumb’ marking the anniversary of the installation of the statue of equality of Sri Ramanujacharya Swamy, they will be organising an international conference on ‘equality, peace and sustainability’ in February.
