Normal life affected in parts of Rajasthan following heavy rain

Three persons have been killed in rain related incidents in Jhalawar district, while several places in the both districts are submerged.

Jaipur: Normal life has been affected in Jhalawar and Baran districts of Rajasthan following heavy rain in the two districts since morning on Sunday.

Three persons have been killed in rain related incidents in Jhalawar district, while several places in the both districts are submerged in water.

The district administration of both the districts has pressed the machinery for relief and rescue operations.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are also engaged in rescue works in affected areas.

Maximum 31.5 centimeter rainfall was recorded in Manoharpurthana in Jhalawar which was followed by Chheepabarod with 25 centimeter, Chhabra with 20 centimeter, Aklera with 17.5, Chhapi dam with 14 centimeter and Atru received 12.5 centimeter rainfall in last 24 hours.

At least 24 people were airlifted in Rajasthan's Baran district and nearby areas where heavy rains have created a flood-like situation.

Several villages are inundated with water entering buildings, houses and a private power plant in Baran.

Defence spokesperson Lt Col Manish Ojha said an MI-17 V5 helicopter from Air Force Station in Phalodi carried out a rescue operation and rescued 24 people from seven different locations, adding that the rescue effort will continue.
