Pathanamthitta: Bodies of two missing youths found

PATHANAMTHITTA: The bodies of two youths, who went missing after a snake boat (palliyodam) capsized in the Pampa river on Sunday, were retrieved on Monday night and Tuesday early morning. The body of Rajeev Thondiyath, 38, was found near the Arattupuzha bridge while that of Visakh Radhakrishnan, 24, near Malakkara here.

The palliyoda seva sanghom, part of the organising committee of the vallasadhya, had been searching for the bodies in a boat fitted with halogen light. The body of Rajeev was found around 10.30 p.m. on Monday and handed over to Aranmula police. The body of Visakh was found by 2.30 a.m. on Tuesday.

The accident took place around 11.45 a.m. on Sunday near the Aranmula temple at Thottapuzhaserikkara when the boat was taking a turn. The duo was travelling in the snake boat 'Keezhcherimel' to take part in a ritual vallasadhya offered by cricketer Karun Nair. The bodies, which have been kept at the Kozhencherry district hospital, will be handed over to the relatives after autopsy on Wednesday.
