Ola gets green signal for parking at Kempegowda International Airport

Through an MoU, Ola will extend its services to air travellers through a designated 'Ola Zone' at KIA.

Bengaluru: Ignoring stiff resistance from traditional taxi operators, the Kempegowda International Airport has decided to allow cab aggregator Ola to provide airport connectivity services. Through an MoU, Ola will extend its services to air travellers through a designated 'Ola Zone' at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).

This arrangement will allow Ola driver-partners to park their vehicles inside KIA premises, with specifically demarcated areas which will offer uninterrupted service to travellers arriving in the city.

According to Ola authorities, the KIA is one of the busiest airports in the country and had handled over 19 million passengers in the FY 2016. “By working together with KIA, Ola aims to provide a convenient commuting option to thousands of travellers who travel to and from the airport everyday. Customers can book an Ola cab from their app on their arrival at KIA. Their designated cab and driver will be waiting at the ‘Ola Zone’, across from the Arrivals gate. Ola has also deputed queue representatives to guide customers towards their cab if needed,” they added. As per the MoU, Ola has been allotted parking slots and pick-up points in the airport premises for driver partners to park their vehicles and for customers’ convenience.

Anuj Sahai, Vice President, Alliances at Ola said, “Airport drops and pickups account for a significant part of booking requests that Ola receives on any given day. As a result of this MoU, a bigger pool of cars will be available for airport travelers with lower ETAs and higher efficiency. This partnership is testament to the transformational mobility experience that we have enabled for millions. We welcome the cooperation of KIAL and look forward to enabling the same level of convenience for our commuters across other cities travelling to and from airports and other public utility spaces in cities every day, taking us closer to our mission of building mobility for a billion Indians,” he said.

Rate Card
The rate card for Ola Cabs will remain the same as per regular travel. So if anyone books a prime it will be Rs 100 for the first four kilometres and Rs 13 for every additional kilometre. Similarly for other categories. The rate card can be checked at www.olacabs.com/fares
