Calicut Forum for IT plans second IT cluster

The hub has 15 companies now, and the group's members have gone up to 45.

KOZHIKODE: Promoting IT industry in Malabar for the past seven years, the Calicut Forum for IT (CafIT) is planning to launch an IT cluster in the Cyber Park here. Started in 2009 with four member firms, the group of IT companies came to limelight in 2014 when it opened the city's first IT hub, CafIT Square, in Hi-Lite City. The hub has 15 companies now, and the group's members have gone up to 45. By extending to Cyber Park, it aims at reaching out to startups as well as new members.

"It's the next milestone after the successful CafIT Square," K.G. Radhakrishnan of CafIT told DC. “We have cleared it in principle, but are yet to fine-tune its structure.” Each year the group of companies receives a good number of young candidates ready to stay back in hometown. Still, he says, many prefer Bangalore to enjoy freedom there. “But those youngsters who love family and really talented and confident stay back and work here,” he said. “The ‘CafIT dream’ ensures an environment where they can stay and get a good salary and professional atmosphere. That's why many of us started units here."
