Rush hour eases at banks in Thrissur

Ink on finger for exchanging notes discourages many.

Thrissur: The banks in Thrissur are slowly coming back to normalcy. Most of the banks including the SBI and SBT branches did not witness any rush on Thursday, but as on the last seven days there was rush to withdraw money from ATMs. The queues at the SBI e-lobby at Naduvilal and SBT Main Branch near Paramekkavu were short as compared to the previous days. SBT started applying indelible in for those who turn up for exchange from Thursday.

Several bank managers whom DC contacted said that there was a considerable decrease in the number of persons who turn up for exchange since Wednesday after union finance ministry decided to apply indelible ink. “We have not yet started applying the ink, but just by hearing the news of it, the exchange counters are remaining vacant for most of the time since Wednesday,” an official at SBI Sakthan Nagar where several interstate labours come to send money using green cards and for exchange till Tuesday, said.
