6,000 private medical seats on offer in Telangana and AP

A private medical college owner wanted clarity on Article 371-D, which is applicable to TS and AP.

Hyderabad: The national entrance test has come as a big advantage for medical aspirants from both Telugu speaking states. With a single test, students can choose from a long list of medical colleges from all over the country.

Students can also choose from prestigious deemed institutions like Manipal University, Gitam, Mata Amritanandamayi. Sri Ramachandra, and Kalinga etc. which have come under the ambit of Neet for the first time.

There are nearly 2,000 seats under management quota in TS and AP. Students can also apply for nearly 4,000 seats in private medical colleges and deemed institutions nationwide, said academic expert P.V.R.K. Murthy.

“Earlier students used to write entrance tests of private medical colleges in various states and the exams conducted by deemed varsities. This time there is no such burden. The fee ranges from Rs 9 lakh to Rs 11 lakh,” he said.

A private medical college owner wanted clarity on Article 371-D, which is applicable to TS and AP. “Although the entrance test is being conducted, we are clueless about how admissions will be conducted,” he said.
