Nellore: The garbage transfer station located between the graveyard at Bodigadithota and Vaikuntapuram, a residential area on the banks of Penna river at Nellore, is being shifted to another location at Allipuram village near Nellore much to the relief of the residents of the area.
After clearing the garbage, the dumping yard site at Bodigadithota will be used by the National Highways Authority of India to build their office.
According to Nellore city legislator P. Anil Kumar Yadav, multiple garbage transfer stations are being constructed with the largest in Allipuram near Nellore city to shift the existing transfer station from Bodigadi thota.
The modern transfer station at Allipuram will be automated and will also prevent foul smell.
Biomining process has started at the existing two dumpyards in Allipuram and Dhantholu and the sites will be reclaimed and a beautiful park is proposed in the location which may come into use in the coming 1 year.
The development of an Integrated solid waste management facility in Dhantholu to handle 300 tonnes of waste generated in the city will further segregate the collected waste and will be processed through various processes to generate useful material from waste.
The former minister said door-to-door collection of waste using more than 150 vehicles has begun, the wet, dry and hazardous waste is being collected separately from the doorstep.
