EFLU students to resume stir, invite students from other varsities to join in

Hyderabad: Students of the English and foreign Language University (EFLU) are set to resume their protest from the last week of this month, albeit in a novel way. The protest will be in the form of organising cultural events and film screenings inside the campus.

Members of the students' JAC informed this correspondent that they intend to invite students from other universities to join in their protest events. They pointed out that they had called off their hunger strike on its eighth day on Tuesday because of warnings from the authorities about shortage of attendance and the threat of detaining them if they failed to write the internals later this month.
The students are rallying behind a girl student, who was assaulted by two men in the campus on October 18. They alleged that the varsity administration was trying to shield the assaulters.

The authorities had on October 19 lodged cases on eleven protestors and on November 14 they booked cases against 17 students in the Osmania University police station even after they had called off the protest.

The JAC members said, “We want protection of students from physical and verbal attacks inside the campus.

The other major demand is the immediate removal of vice-chancellor Prof. E. Suresh Kumar, who has been given an extension on the completion of his tenure.

The students, who are currently busy with their internals, said that they are reaching out to the alumni, who were victims when they were studying here.
