Four killed, four injured in head-on collision between two cars

TIRUPATI: Four persons including two women, were killed and four others injured in a road accident in Ramapuram mandal of Annamayya district on Sunday. The accident occurred when two cars collided head-on on the Chittoor-Kadapa national highway near Kothapalli Cross in the wee hours of Sunday.

According to sources, the victims were identified as Lakshmamma (65), Chinnakka (60), Narasaiah (41), and auto driver Raja Reddy (35). Lakshmamma of Budvel in Kadapa district was suffering from paralysis and was being taken to Virupakshapuram in Chittoor district for treatment when tragedy struck.
The car in which they were travelling collided with another car coming from the opposite direction near Kothapalli Cross. Lakshmamma, her son Narasaiah, and the driver, Raja Reddy, were killed on the scene, while two other relatives, Chinnakka and a youngster named Harshvardhan, were gravely injured. The crash also injured three occupants of the other car, which was travelling from Rayachoti to Kadapa.

On being informed, local police rushed to the scene and shifted the injured to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Kadapa. Chinnaka died while receiving treatment at the hospital. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
