Bengalureans go extra mile for Gerard's Kitchen

The money raised will be used to provide food sponsorships by the Kitchen. The funds are dwindling, said Loveina Noronha.

Bengaluru: In an effort to support Gerard's Kitchen, which provides free meals to over 70 underprivileged families residing in slums in Frazer Town, a walkathon was organized in the city on Saturday, urging Bengalureans to support the initiative. Gerard's Kitchen is run by Holy Ghost Church in Frazer Town.

“The money raised will be used to provide food sponsorships by the Kitchen. The funds are dwindling,” said Loveina Noronha, the coordinator of the event. The five-kilometre long 'give-a-thon' started off with a prayer service and a performance by CFMI Praise and Worship team, a local gospel band.

It was held at the Seminary Grounds of the Holy Ghost Church and about four hundred people, all dressed in lime yellow t-shirts, took part. The event was inaugurated by former hockey great Jude Felix. Expressing his own happiness parish priest Reverend Paul P Thomas told DC: “A small start but a great effort nonetheless.”
