HYDERABAD: Fifty cases of eye injuries caused by accidental bursting of crackers were reported in the Sarojini Eye Hospital on Diwali on Sunday. Many of the injured were children.
An official told Deccan Chronicle five of the patients sustained major eye injuries. Two of them were operated upon and three were kept under observation. Other patients were discharged after first aid.
Among those injured were pedestrians and two-wheeler riders who were victims of carelessly thrown crackers, or passed over them without being aware.
