LGBTQIA holds Pride March after three years

HYDERABAD: About 600 people participated in the ‘pride march’ taken out by the LGBTQIA community here on Sunday, from Sundarayya Park at Baghlingampally to Indira Park. Titled Queer Swabhimana Yatra, the event is conducted once a year in most metro cities in India and across the globe. The event was conducted in the city after a threeyear gap gap caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The march was held from 1.30 pm to 6 pm. G. Krishna, president of Suraksha Society and LGBT activist, said that the demands of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual community were legalisation legalising same sex marriages, reservation in education and employment and provision of housing for members.
