Moving car catches fire in Secunderabad

Hyderabad: A car went up in flames near the Railway Nilayam in Secunderabad on Sunday afternoon. Four persons, including an elderly couple, escaped unhurt in the incident. A fire tender rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

According to fire officials, P.L. Murthy, a retired employee, his wife, their son and a driver were returning home in Kukatpally after visiting an ailing relative undergoing treatment at the Railway Hospital in Lallaguda.

When the vehicle was passing by the Railway Nilayam, driver Ravinder Reddy noticed smoke coming out from the engine. He immediately stopped and parked the vehicle under the shade of a tree on the roadside. All the passengers got down from the car. While the driver was checking the car, the smoke turned into flames and soon engulfed the entire vehicle. The police reached the spot and started an inquiry into the incident.
