No more talks on national highway land: CM Pinarayi Vijayan

The Chief Minister said that the government is soon going into the implementation of the 45 metre criteria by acquiring land.

KOZHIKODE: Land acquisition for NH widening at 45 metre will go in top speed, said Pinarayi Vijayan. There will not be any compromise on 45 metre width for the NH and the government will also look into declare a comprehensive package for the people affecting by the land acquisition. He was addressing a felicitation programme at Kozhikode on his maiden visit as the Chief Minister on Sunday.

The Chief Minister said that the government is soon going into the implementation of the 45 metre criteria by acquiring land and reminded that interest of the state is more important to take care than that of a person.

“Roads are important part of the infrastructure development and we need to approach it that way. The acquisition part obviously causes issues for people. However we cannot go back from our policy to develop the national highway as it is an integral part for the development of the state. We cannot also compromise also on the 45 metre criteria as it was decided in an all-party meeting and the centre has approved it. There is no room for further talks in that issue,” he said. “We need to acquire land wherever necessary and the people should understand it in the right spirit and co-operate with government,” he added.
