KIMS built bridge without permit

Meanwhile, KIMS clarified that all permissions were taken from authorities before construction of the bridge.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CAG report has pulled up KIMS Hospital, Anayara, for the illegal construction of a corridor cum Foot over Bridge across a PWD road to connect two blocks of the hospital without obtaining a permit. In December 2013, the Corporation issued a provisional order for demolishing the unauthorised construction.

The chief town planner in July 2015 reported that the construction violated various provisions of KMBR and hence it could not be regularised. However the Corporation, in August 2015 allowed the construction to remain temporarily without being demolished, the report says. The rules stipulate that ‘no person shall build any wall or any other structure or make any encroachment in or over any public street’.

Meanwhile, KIMS clarified that all permissions were taken from authorities before construction of the bridge. Also it was completed under the supervision of PWD officials. An application was filed before the Chief Engineer (Roads & Bridges) PWD who granted sanction for construction of the foot bridge subject to certain conditions.

The matter was subsequently reviewed by the Corporation which later granted final approval. A petition challenging the interim order of the Corporation in 2013 to dismantle construction was also set aside by a court, KIMS said in an official statement.
