Celestial wedding celebrated with fervour at Bhadrachalam

N. Gangireddy, a native of Visakhapatnam and staunch believer in Lord Rama, said attending the wedding on Navami was a great experience

BHADRACHALAM: People turned up in large numbers for the celestial wedding of Lord Rama with Goddess Sita on Sunday at the Bhadradri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Devesthanam.

It was a great day for the devout since they were barred from the wedding during last two years due to Covid-19 pandemic. Only VIPs and priests could attend because of severe restrictions.

There were, however, no restrictions this year for Ramuloripelli at the Mithila Stadium. Devotees turned up for the celestial wedding from Telangana as well as neighbouring Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh too.

N. Gangireddy, a native of Visakhapatnam and staunch believer in Lord Rama, said attending the wedding on Sri Rama Navami was a great experience for him after missing out on it for last two years.

Rajesh, another devotee from Hyderabad, said he had been wishing to watch the wedding for past 20 years. His wish turned into a reality on Sunday. Trimurthulu from Vijayawada said it is his luck that he is watching the event in person.
Interestingly, priests at the wedding referred tbridegroom as Ramachandra Swamy Varayane. This is unlike last 10 years when priests had been referring to the Lord as Ramanarayana Swamy Varayane.

A case has been filed in court contending that Bhadradri Lord’s Pravara had been changed.

B Sankar Reddy, devotee and resident of Bhadrachalam, said they are happy that priests have referred to the Lord as Ramachandra Swamy Varayane during Ramuloripelli.

Incidentally, Bhadrachalam priests had received court notices on the change of Gotra and Pravara of Lord Rama.
