Visakhapatnam: Andhra University vice chancellor P.V.G.D. Prasada Reddy has predicted that Visakhapatnam will become another Silicon Valley. He was speaking as chief guest at a conference organised by Andhra Pradesh Working Journalists Federation and Andhra Pradesh Broadcast Journalists Association at Andhra University on Friday.
The conference was on comprehensive development of Andhra Pradesh. Prasada Reddy suggested that political parties must include in their manifesto the progress that they are going to make district-wise and conduct. Intellectuals must discuss district-wise before political parties formulate their manifestos.
The AU VC said real development is possible only when people below the poverty line get the fruits of development. “For this purpose, it is very necessary to reach them directly through welfare,” he underlined.
Prasada Reddy pointed out that Andhra Pradesh has a long coastline. This must be taken advantage of by creating wealth based on sea and developing the tourism sector.
Others who spoke at the conference include Information Department deputy director Mani Ram, professor P. Viswanatham, Chaitanya Sravanti president Dr. Shireen Rahman, Dr. Pentakota Rama Rao and Bharanikana Rama Rao.
