Abandoned drone spreads confusion in Kollam

The baggage was later handed over to the Kollam East Police by a local resident here on Sunday.

KOLLAM: It was panic struck hours for the residents of Mundakkal in Kollam when they found an abandoned package containing a ‘device’ that had ‘wings’ to fly until they came to know the device to be a “drone” used to capture aerial shot using a camera attached to it. The baggage was later handed over to the Kollam East Police by a local resident here on Sunday.

“The police inspected the baggage to find the address of a studio in Pathanapuram. The baggage belonged to a camera crew from the studio who came to film a wedding in a nearby location the other day. They missed the baggage and failed to verify it as they had a lot of equipment to carry,” a police official told DC.

The East Police contacted Pathanapuram Police to verify the whereabouts of the owner of the studio. A case has been registered as a procedure of finding a missing object under CRPC section 102. The drone will be handed over to the owner after further verification, the Police said.
