Failed bid to rob bank at Kalamassery

A team of cops along with dog squad visited the branch and collected evidence.

Kochi: Robbers made an unsuccessful attempt to loot a bank at Kalamassery in the wee hours of Wednesday.

According to police, unidentified men bore a hole in the wall of the Bank of India branch office located near Kalamassery Municipality Townhall during the intervening night, however, no money was found to have lost.

"The theft attempt was made after 7 pm on Tuesday. The branch was located at the first floor of a multi-storey building. We suspect that by the time the robbers bore the hole and entered the branch, it was morning. The thieves must have left in a hurry, fearing detection," police said.

A team of cops along with dog squad visited the branch and collected evidence. "The lockers were found safe as were other key documents," they said.

The Kalamassery Police registered a case under IPC section 393 (Punishment for Attempt to commit Robbery).
