Jal Jeevan Mission: All TS rural households get tap water

HYDERABAD: Under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) of the Centre, all rural households have been provided with water tap connections, covering 100 per cent of the households since the launch of the programme in 2019.

According to the latest report of the Union Ministry of jal shakti, in 2019, 15.68 lakh households or 29.05 per cent of all households, had water tap connections. This increased to 53.98 lakh households in 2023 under the JMM, the Centre’s flagship programme, covering 100 per cent of the rural households across the state.

In the last five years, over 38.29 lakh households, comprising 70.95 per cent, have been provided with tap water connections, ensuring the availability of water for the remaining households of the state, the report said.

As per the JJM report, significant progress was achieved in providing the water supply in three districts of Bhadradri Kothagudem which had only 17.10 per cent of households with tap water supply, Jayashankar Bhupalapally with 41.92 per cent and with 3.35 houses with tap water supply in 2019.

As of date, all 13,281-gram panchayats/community health centres in the state have been provided with a tap water supply. They stand at 99 per cent each in the 22,832 schools and 27,248 Anganwadi centres.
