GVMC staff stage protest

Speaking on this occasion, Reddy said that the contract/outsourcing employees are delivering their duties with utmost dedication

Visakhapatnam: The contractual sanitation workers of GVMC staged a protest demanding the implementation of GO 151 which prescribes equal pay for equal work irrespective of the category of the employees – regular, contract, outsourced or daily wage employees.

The sanitation workers have also been demanding the scrapping of GO 279 that will let the government introduce the private agencies for sanitation works.
On Thursday, the contract and outsourcing employees of the Greater Visakhapatnam GVMC staged a protest opposite the GVMC main office in Ramnagar.

Speaking on this occasion, Reddy said that the contract/outsourcing employees are delivering their duties with utmost dedication. “Since the GVMC hasn’t adopted the GO, the contract/outsourcing employees are drawing meagre salaries and are in financial crisis,” said Reddy.
