Warangal: Two landmines defused on highway

This is the third incident in the past one year involving explosives planted by the Maoists.

Warangal: The police on Monday unearthed two powerful landmines on the Vajedu-Bhadrachalam Highway which were allegedly placed by the Maoists.

The bomb squad was able to defuse the explosive. This is the third incident in the past one year involving explosives planted by the Maoists.

Rahul Hegde, Eturna-garam ASP, said that the landmines were discovered during a routine checking by the ROP (road opening party) near a culvert, about 17 km from Venkatapuram. The ROP found wires going through the earth and suspected landmines.

The ASP headed the operation with the help of bomb squads. They found about 25kg of explosive placed in two metal boxes.
