Insolvency, mediation, bankruptcy, corporate philanthropy are subjects of future

Hyderabad: The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and Nalsar University of Law co-hosted the first edition of Corpcon-2024 at Nalsar’s Shamirpet campus, which ended on Sunday.

The three-day workshop on developments and trends in corporate laws and governance provided a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration focusing on corporate governance, compliance, and legal intricacies.

Speaking at the valedictory session, Nalsar University Vice Chancellor Prof. Srikrishna Deva Rao said that Nalsar has plans to set up at its campus academic centres. Insolvency, mediation, bankruptcy, corporate philanthropy are subjects in demand and they are subjects of future.

Participating in the event, Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar, president of National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), said that the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) had been a success but the timelines had been exceeded. The impact of IBC depended on how each stakeholder performed their role.

Justice Sudhakar urged professionals to proceed with caution and avoid unnecessary delays in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) procedures.

Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) president C.S. Manshi Gupta said it has plans to open its first ADR centre in Hyderabad by March this year. The centre is ICSI’s attempt to support the judicial ecosystem and strengthen governance, he said, according to a release.
