FCI to auction rice, wheat in AP to control prices

VIJAYAWADA: To control rising prices of rice, wheat, and wheat products in Andhra Pradesh, the regional office of Food Corporation of India (FCI) in Amaravati is offering 7,000 metric tonnes of rice and 1,000 metric tonnes of wheat for sale in the open market through e-auction on August 9.

The sale is being made under the Open Market Sale Scheme (Domestic) of union government, FCI AP general manager Chandra Sekhar Joshi said on Saturday. The sale in AP is part of Government of India’s decision to release FCI wheat and rice in the open market to stabilise the retail prices of wheat / atta and rice throughout the country.

Joshi said to participate in the e-auction, bidders must credit the EMD amount through electronic mode in favour of GM, FCI, Regional Office, Amaravati, before 6 p.m. on Monday, August 7. He clarified that from now onwards, a buyer against his PAN number can bid for only 100 metric tonnes of wheat throughout the country, provided the buyer has valid GST registration in that particular state and valid FSSAI licence as on the date of publishing the tender.

The FCI AP GM said interested flour millers / atta chakki processors and manufacturers of wheat products may contact M-Junction at ww.valuejunction.in/fci for registration and participation in the e-auction.

He pointed out that wheat lifted by successful bidders in e-auction from FCI must be processed into wheat products and released into the market for sales within 30 days from the last date of lifting the stock bid for.
