Thrissur: In view of several thousands of seats lying vacant in self-financing engineering colleges across the state, Kerala Governor P. Sathasivam has urged the respective vice-chancellors of the universities to improve the quality of education in engineering colleges, so that the students who join the course, score good marks and find jobs.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday after meeting vice-chancellors and representatives of all the 13 universities at the Chancellor’s Council held at Kerala Agriculture University at Mannuty here, he said that VCs concerned had been told to take the initiative for the engineering colleges signing MoUs with foreign companies, entrepreneurs and institutions so that the students could get good jobs. The next council would be held to discuss exclusively on academics, the governor added.
Education Minister C. Raveendranath said at the press meet that as a part of the agenda set up by the Chancellor’s Council, within a month, the dates of all examinations starting from SSLC to those conducted in universities would be announced and a website providing the examination schedule would be launched. “As a part of improving the quality of existing courses no more self-financing courses will be inducted in aided colleges from the next academic year,” the minister added
