ALAPPUZHA: A civil police officer of the armed reserve camp here was suspended on Thursday for criticising Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on the Facebook page over the action against sub-inspector Vimod of Kozhikode who had assaulted and arrested the mediapersons the other day. Mr A. Akbar, district superintendent of police, suspended Mr Rajagopal of Kayamkulam after conducting an investigation as per the order of the state police chief.
Mr Rajagopal, in his post published on Wednesday, said, “Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had come to power with a ‘dual heart,’ but did not show courage in protecting the SI from suspension.” The entire post justified the act of Vimod who was found guilty by DGP Lokanath Behera. Former DGP T.P. Senkumar had earlier issued an order barring the police personnel from publishing anything other than ‘private matters’ on the social media.
Mr Rajagopal tried to justify his post saying that it inadvertently appeared on the Facebook after he got a post from WhatsApp. His reply was unacceptable, an official of the AR camp said and added that it was clearly a violation of the code of conduct. The official said that the post was deleted immediately after it was posted. But it was noticed by the policemen supporting the government and they reported it to the senior officials.
