J.C.Bose fellowship for UoH professor

Hyderabad: Prof. Balasubramanian Senthilkumaran of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been awarded the prestigious J.C. Bose Fellowship of Science and Engineering Research Board for his performance in the area of fish molecular endocrinology and reproductive biology.

It entails a fellowship amount of '25,000 a month and a research grant in addition to Rs.15 lakh per annum for five years. Prof. Senthilkumaran did pioneering work in developing the novel transient gene silencing in fish to understand their gene function.

He made innovative contributions in understanding sex differentiation as well as gonadal development at various stages of the life cycle of bony fishes as well developed the concept of “brain sex differentiation” in fishes.
