Bengaluru: Regarding issue of summons to 14 accused in demolition of tombs at Datta Peeta in Chikkamagaluru, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday clarified that State Government had ordered for re-opening of the case is far from truth and the issue of summons to the accused a normal legal procedure.
Explaining, the Chief Minister said the accused tried to demolish tombs at Datta Peeta, raised slogans and obstructed police officials from discharging their duties and the accused were booked under various provisions of IPC and section 3 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984.
The case was booked in 2017 and the first proposal for government sanction was sent on March 19, 2020. The prosecution permission from the State Government was issued on September 7, 2023 and the charge sheet was submitted on October 24, 2023.
Siddaramaiah said the First Additional Civil Judge and JMFC, Chikkamagaluru issued summons to all accused for their first appearance on January 8, 2024.
