No need to panic on kidnap rumours, says Kochi police

The police also sought the cooperation of the people in this regard.

Kochi: The Kochi city police has stated that people need not be panicked over reports circulating on social media networks about attempts to kidnap children in the city. The police is keeping a constant vigil and people need to harbour any apprehensions, M.P. Dinsesh, city police commissioner, said in a statement on Friday. DCP Arul R.B. Krishna has been asked to supervise the probe directly, he said. The police will investigate the veracity of the reports and would also trace those involved in spreading misleading reports in this regard, he added.

A thorough probe will be held and the reality behind the reports would be brought out before the people, he said. “There is no need for parents to apprehensive as the police has taken all possible to measures ensure safety of the children”, DCP Krishna said. The police has increased patrolling across the city, he added. The police also sought the cooperation of the people in this regard. If any suspicious movement is noticed cops should be alerted immediately.
