Telangana Model Is A Boon For Farmers: Kavitha

KAMAREDDY: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha said that the Telangana model had become popular as it aimed at the welfare and well-being of farmers. Providing insurance cover to each farmer and irrigating every acre of land has been the motto, she said.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was giving the utmost importance to the agriculture sector and had made farmers self-reliant in crop investments, she said.

On Farmers Day, the second day of the 21-day Telangana State Formation Day celebrations, she was speaking at an event at Padmajiwada in Sadashivanagar mandal of Kamareddy district.

She said that people from other states were keen on getting to know more about the successful Telangana model. “We explained to farmers of other states that '65,000 crore financial aid will be given to 65 lakh farmers in Telangana state within five years”, she said.

Kavitha said that the BRS government was taking farmer-friendly steps and had initiated stringent action against traders dealing in spurious seeds.

The state has attained the second position from the 15th place in cultivation of paddy in the country, she explained. Production of paddy has increased from three lakh quintals in 2014 to five lakh quintals, she said adding that Mission Kakatiya has increased ground water table and Kaleshwaram project water will reach all drought-prone areas soon.

Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Yellareddy MLA Jajala Surender, zilla parishad chairperson Dafedar Shobha, Kamareddy district BRS party president Mujeebuddin and others were present.
