Kerala Law Academy row: BJP leader battles for eyesight

Mr Vava underwent two surgeries on Wednesday, Mr Kummanam said.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP State vice-president P. P. Vava who was injured when the police lobbed grenades on the agitating students of Law Academy law college during the BJP hartal on Wednesday is battling for his eye sight. BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan told DC that the retina and three veins of Dr Vava’s left eye have been severely damaged when a piece of the grenade hit his face.

The hospital where he has been admitted issued a medical bulletin on Thursday saying the visual prognosis can be known in a week. Mr Vava underwent two surgeries on Wednesday, Mr Kummanam said. “Doctors said there are chances of him getting the sight back if the severed veins could be reconnected,” he said.
