ECR's Waltair Division Smashes Loading Records

Visakhapatnam: East Coast Railway (ECR)’s Waltair division, under the guidance of divisional railway manager (DRM) Saurabh Prasad, has set an unprecedented record by achieving the highest-ever loading of 6.51 million tonnes in November 2023.

The division has shattered all previous November records, achieving a remarkable 16.25 per cent increase compared to November 2022, when the division moved 5.60 million tonnes.

In November 2023, the division achieved a historic milestone by loading 2.04 million tonnes from National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), surpassing the previous record of 1.86 million tonnes set in November 2020.

Additionally, Gangavaram Port loading reached a new high with 1.52 million tonnes, surpassing the previous best of 1.48 million tonnes.

Waltair division also set a new record by loading 1,791 rakes, marking a 14.5 per cent increase from the previous year's 1,564 rakes in November 2022; surpassing the previous best of 1,668 rakes in November 2020.

Despite challenges, including a 17-day disruption due to a landslide on the Kottavalasa-Kirandul line, the division exhibited resilience, experiencing a 38 per cent surge in loading on this line, from 350 rakes in November 2022 to 484 rakes in November 2023.
