Rats bite off ears, face of body in mortuary at Bhongir Government Hospital

Hyderabad: A rat infestation at the mortuary of the Bhongir Government Hospital on Tuesday led to a confrontation between hospital staff and relatives of the deceased, as the body was bitten on the nose, forehead and ears.

Sources said that P. Ravi, of Pragathinagar, died by suicide on Monday, following which the police filed a case of suspicious death and send the body to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.

While the body was stored in the mortuary, rats bit the body.

The family members of the deceased alleged negligence of hospital staff and later, took the body for performing the last rites.
