Anantapur: The twentyone-year-old girl from Hyderabad had never expected to find herself in a brothel in Rayachoti in Kadapa district. She was rescued after the police raided a den and handed her over to her brothers. The family experienced a mix of happiness and pain as the girl was reunited with them after she went missing for three years.
The girl told the police that she had a love affair with K. Mahesh of Krushi Nagar area, who worked as an auto driver in Hyderabad. He took her to Rayachoti, saying his family wouldn’t allow him have a marriage with her, and hence it could be done far away from Hyderabad. Mahesh took the girl to Kadapa in 2013 and, leaving her alone, he fled the spot.
The victim told police that, she was in tears at the RTC bus-stand and afraid to return home. A trafficker, Muneera from Kadapa town, noticed her and laid a trap by offering her shelter.
At Kadapa, Muneera sold the girl to a brothel in Rayachoti. During a raid, the Rayachoti urban police rescued several victims from the brothel. The Hyderabad woman’s story came to light.
