Court adjourns V A Zakir Hussein bail plea to Friday

Police registered a case against Mr Hussain for kidnapping and threatening industrialist Juby Poulose.

Kochi: Ernakulam principal sessions court will on Friday consider the anticipatory bail plea of CPM Kalamassery area secretary Zakeer Hussain accused in an abduction case. Along with Mr Hussain, his accomplices Karukappilly Siddique and Kothadath Faizal who are in police custody also filed bail applications. Police registered a case against Mr Hussain for kidnapping and threatening industrialist Juby Poulose.

Pressure is mounting on the police for arresting him as more than ten days have passed since the incident. Police registered the FIR on October 19. Cops say he is an accused in ten cases including attacking them in Kollam. Police may issue a lookout notice against him as he was reportedly absconding. Police sources claim he had left the state. Meanwhile, the police decided to question DySP Bijo Alexander who is under suspension for his alleged nexus with Mr Hussain.

Juby Paulose filed a case after he threatened him by asking to stop his dairy farm business. Police also had registered another case against Siddique and Faisal for the alleged swindling of money from a business woman by claiming that they were close confidantes of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Seven persons were arrested in that case after Sandra Thomas, who is running a Jewellery shop on Broadway, filed a case with the director general of police. Following the development, the DYFI expelled Siddique, its Kaloor Masjid unit member.
