Health minister launches 134 new test facilities in T-diagnostic centres

HYDERABAD: On the occasion of the National Doctor’s Day (July 1), health minister T. Harish Rao launched 134 T diagnostic tests in T-diagnostic centres across the state from the inaugural event at Kondapur government hospital, here on Saturday.

In addition to the existing 57 tests, 134 tests, including radiology tests such as X-ray, UCG, ECG, 2D echo, and mammogram, have been incorporated with an investment of Rs 1.70 crore. Subsequent to the additions, the annual operational cost of each lab will now be Rs 3 crore.

Many of the tests, which are priced between Rs 500 and Rs 10, 000 in private labs, will now be available in the government diagnostic centres free of cost.

Speaking on the occasion, Rao said that the central lab in Hyderabad has received the NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories) certification, which was an apt recognition for adhering to the top grade diagnostics standards.

Meanwhile, 13 district labs have also received NABL primary accreditation, which reflects the importance attached to the diagnostic facilities in the state, he said.

The minister said that since the launch of T-diagnostics centres, over 10 crore tests have been conducted across the state, benefiting around 57.68 lakh patients.

Rao appreciated the role of doctors in the health services of the state, while extending his Doctor’s Day greetings to each medical practitioner.
