KSRTC bags award for e-governance

KSRTC had earlier won National e-Governance Silver Award for its Online Passenger Reservation System-AWATAR in the year 2009-10.

Bengaluru: KSRTC’s Intelligent Transport System Project at Mysuru has been selected for National e-Governance Gold Award under the category of “Innovative use of ICT by State Government PSUs/Co operatives/Federations/ Societies’’.

It is for the first time that any state public transport undertaking in India has won the National e-Governance Gold Award. KSRTC had earlier won National e-Governance Silver Award for its Online Passenger Reservation System-AWATAR in the year 2009-10.

Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and Union Government instituted the national e-Governance award to recognise and promote excellence in implementation of e-Governance initiatives. DARPG presents National e-Governance Awards every year during the National Conference on e-Governance under 12 different categories.

A total 485 projects were nominated and screening of the projects was done under three phases. In the first phase around 160 projects were short listed and out of these 48 were selected for presentation before juries, representing experts in the field of IT and Governance.
