The 201 structures, including the Mysuru Palace, have been waiting to be declared heritage monuments for the past 11 years.

The list sent to the state government in 2007 is now pending with the urban development department, which has to clear the proposal for amending section 13E of the Town and Country Planning Act to empower the Mysuru Urban Development Authority and Mysuru City Corporation to declare buildings heritage monuments.

Although the MCC has recommended demolition and reconstruction of the Lansdowne building, Mr Khader said it could still be conserved and restored as suggested by experts and a decision would be taken on this soon.

As for the heaps of garbage awaiting disposal in the city, he said a detailed project report had been prepared on converting it into energy.

Revealing that the government was introducing a single window system for issuing licences and approving building plans, he said people would also be able to get various NOCs from various departments, and the documents they needed through this arrangement.

The Minister said that Chief Minister H D Kumarswamy would lay the foundation stone next week for formation of layouts and building of houses for 850 victims of the recent floods and landslides in Kodagu.

“Two bedroom houses will be built at a cost Rs 9.85 lakh each. They will be completed within six months of the work getting underway,” the minister said.
