Fill up vacancies in PMC, demands Adivasi panel

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Adivasi Joint Action Committee (AJAC) had demanded that the state government fill all the vacant 264 posts in Paderu Medical College with local unemployed ST candidates.

AJAC convener Rama Rao Dora pointed out that the medical college being in the tribal area of the Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district, employees coming from outside areas will not be able to adapt to the complex geographical and climatic conditions. This will hamper medical services for tribal communities in the remote district.

He said the government thus invoked GO No. 3, as jobs announced under this order will belong to the local tribes. In this regard, Rama Rao Dora gave a petition to the ASR district collector.

While thanking the state government for bringing medical education and health facilities within the reach of Adivasis at the district headquarters of ASR district at Paderu, he underlined that filling up the 264 vacancies in the college with local candidates will mean they will provide better services, unlike general candidates who will find it difficult to adjust to the conditions.

AJAC convener requested the area’s public representatives to intervene and get the vacancies filled up. He asked the state government to file a review petition in court on behalf of tribal communities so that local ST candidates could get the jobs.
