From Njarakkal to Malippuram in one day.

Kochi: At a time when the tourism sector is trying to get out of the mess created by the August floods, the Matsyafed under the state government is raring to cash in on some rare experiences it can offer to tourists in a circuit in Ernakulam.

The one day tour package titled Bhoomika, launched on Saturday, connects the Aqua Farm at Njarakkal with Palaykkari near Pothotta and Malippuram to offer a mixture of natural treats and the taste for the palate from the backwaters.

The package which starts at 9 am with breakfast from Njarakkal ends at 7 pm with dinner at Malippuram after a view of the sunset from the beach. It can accommodate 15 members but the minimum number is eight and a guide accompanies the tourists in an air-conditioned coach.

The breakfast offered as part of the package is at the tree house or ‘erumadam’ in Njarakkal on a strip created in the shape of a house boat within the backwater and the tour starts after that.

The bamboo hut there offers some time for rest, and then the tourist can go for angling there, followed by travel in bowl boat or kutta vanchi, row boat, pedal boat, water cycle and kayaking.

Then the tourists are taken to Palaykkari where the statue of a mermaid awaits them. The sumptuous lunch offered there will have fish delicacies and crab taken from the farm there.

“One can take rest after that and then undertake a shikari boat journey and visit the house boat museum as well as the children’s park there,” says Nisha P, manager of the farms.
