YSRC Medical Cell objects to stopping of Arogyasri services by network hospitals
Vijayawada: The YSR Congress Medical Cell has objected to the stopping of Arogyasri services from Dec 29, saying, “It is not a good practice for Arogyasri empanelled hospitals to threaten the government in the name of pending dues.”
“The empanelled hospitals are doing this despite the present government clearing the pending dues of the Telugu Desam period,” it said.
YSRC MC state vice president, Dr Mehboob Shaikh said chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy gave priority to the medical and health sector and launched revolutionary programmes like Family Doctor, Jagananna Arogya Suraksha, YSR Urban and Village Health Clinics etc. Also, 17 medical colleges have been established to strengthen medical education in the state, of which five colleges have been started and five more would start the coming academic year, he said.
Dr Mehboob said, “Private hospitals should contribute to the government's actions and ensure that the people get better medical services. It is not proper for them to attempt blackmailing of the government on poll-eve by imposing deadlines like this.”
“As the elections are approaching, some people are attempting bad publicity against Arogyasri and thereby trying to malign the reputation of the state government,” he said.
He said the government was clearing the pending Arogyasri bills to the hospitals and hence the network hospitals should shun their “adamant” attitude and continue their services without a halt. “They are urged to come forward and resolve issues through dialogue,” he said.
