Tensions Flare in Ankalagi Village, Kalaburagi Over Temple Construction Dispute

Kalaburagi: Tensions prevailed in Ankalagi village of Jewargi Taluk in Kalaburagi district as two groups confronted each other on Monday.

According to sources for the past two decades, a Ganesh idol is being placed at Chaudikatte in the village. Plans for a temple at the same location were met with opposition from another community, resulting in a court-issued stay order.

Concurrently, the opposing community began constructing a compound wall for the place of worship. Despite no direct objections, simmering tension between the two communities was palpable.

On Monday, matters took a more serious turn when an alleged social media post reignited the simmering dispute, resulting in confrontation between the two groups. The Nelogi Police Station has registered a case in connection with the incident.

Officials led by SP A Srinivasulu visited the troubled spot. The situation is under control.
