Officials have imposed curbs on the immersion of Ganesh idols in the Godavari.

Rajahmundry: Officials have imposed curbs on the immersion of Ganesh idols in the Godavari, during the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities. Only idols made of clay will be permitted to be immersed in the river at Isuka ramp. Municipal commissioner V. He said that for idols made using materials other than clay, immersion permission will be given beyond the Sir Arthur Cotton barrage downstream. He asked Ganesh Utsav organisers to obtain permission from municipal corporation and also from the police for the installation of idols till their immersion and the route they intend to adopt for taking out a procession. He also warned that if the organisers caused damage to roads and drains during the festivities, repair charges would be collected from them.

Referring to the recently-launched ‘RMC app’, he said so far they had received 145 complaints on various issues and added that they were making all efforts to resolve them within 48 hours. The commissioner said that he would be available at the office from 5.00 pm to 6.00 pm on every working day and asked the people to meet him in person to resolve their issues. He said 52 per cent Smart pulse survey was completed. He also asked the people to cooperate with the enumerators by giving correct information.
