Siddaramaiah's son takes ill on tour, admitted to Belgium hospital

Siddaramaiah said the condition of his son was stable and he will be going to Belgium on Thursday.

Bengaluru: Rakesh Siddaramaiah, elder son of CM Siddaramaiah, who reportedly developed major complication in the pancreas during his tour of Belgium, has been admitted to University Hospital, Brussels.

While confirming this, Mr Siddaramaiah said the condition of his son was stable. “I will be going to Belgium on Thursday,” he added. Sources close to CM, said his second son, Dr Yatindra Siddaramaiah, and two of his friends left for Brussels on Wednesday. They said Rakesh had undergone surgery and his condition was stable while unconfirmed reports said he could be in a coma and was not yet out of danger.

According to sources, Rakesh has been suffering from pancreatic and liver problems ever since he met with an accident in 2000. He has been complaining of pain in abdomen with doctors reportedly advising him to stick to a strict diet.

After he experienced severe pain, Rakesh got admitted to a hospital. On Tuesday, Mr Siddaramaiah spoke to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj seeking her intervention and she in turn, has asked MEA officials in Brussels to rush to Rakesh’s help. The MEA officials reportedly admitted Rakesh to the University Hospital in Brussels.
